Some characteristics of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose
2023-02-21 14:03Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose has a wide range of uses in our daily life. It not only plays an obvious role in construction, but also occupies a great position in the paint industry. Let's look at hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. It has four characteristics:
1, the use of high substitution degree HPMC can improve and control the performance of water-based coatings. The viscosity of the coating can be improved to a certain extent, as well as its surface tension and gel temperature and the compatibility of additives in the agricultural production system, in the tropical area can control the influence of bacteria on the coating;
2, with a variety of viscosity of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose prepared into the coating has good wear resistance, high temperature resistance, antibacterial degradation, washing resistance and acid and base stability. It can also be used as a thickening agent containing methanol, ethanol, propyl alcohol, etc. to act on paint stripper. Emulsified coatings have good wet abrasion properties. It is superior to HEC, EHEC and CMC as coating thickener.
3, high substitution degree than low substitution degree has better bacterial corrosion resistance, has better viscosity stability in polyvinyl acetate thickener. Inappropriate cellulose ether will reduce the viscosity of the coating due to degradation of cellulose ether chain during storage.
4, white water-based polyvinyl acetate coating thickener has a better effect.
