Magnesium Phosphate Cement (MPC)

Eastchem Magnesium Phosphate Cement (MPC) — also known as chemically bonded phosphate ceramic or phosphate bonded cement — is a hydraulic inorganic cementitious material prepared from calcined magnesium oxide, soluble phosphates, and retarders. Unlike conventional Portland cement, this magnesium phosphate binder sets through a rapid acid-base chemical reaction rather than hydration, producing a dense crystalline matrix with exceptional early strength and adhesion.

Eastchem Magnesium Phosphate Cement (MPC) — also known as chemically bonded phosphate ceramic or phosphate bonded cement — is a hydraulic inorganic cementitious material prepared from calcined magnesium oxide, soluble phosphates, and retarders. magnesium phosphate cement

MPC cement reaches 20 MPa at 2 hours and 80 MPa at 7 days. It bonds directly to existing concrete, steel, stone, and wood without primers, contains zero chloride ions, and performs at temperatures as low as -20°C without insulation curing. Shrinkage is well below both OPC and sulfoaluminate cement systems.

This magnesium phosphate binder is currently supplied to infrastructure projects across the Middle East and global markets, covering applications in extreme heat, high humidity, and cold-region environments.

Free samples available. Formulation and packaging fully customizable.

Key Selling Points

Ultra-fast strength — open to traffic in 2 hoursMPC cement reaches 20 MPa at 2 hours, 40 MPa at 1 day, and 80 MPa at 7 days. Repaired surfaces reopen within 0.5–3 hours — significantly reducing operational downtime.

Direct bond to concrete and steel — no primerThis phosphate bonded cement bonds to clean, pre-wetted concrete with tensile bond strength >2.5 MPa at 3 days. In pull-out testing, failure occurs in the base concrete — not at the MPC interface.

Cold weather reliability down to -20°CAs a chemically bonded phosphate ceramic system, MPC achieves full design strength without thermal insulation curing. Proven in infrastructure repair across Qinghai and Inner Mongolia.

Superior wear resistance — 2× OPCMPC cement wear rate: 1.95 kg/m² vs. 3.0–3.5 kg/m² for ordinary Portland cement concrete.

Near-zero shrinkageDrying shrinkage <0.05% — lower than OPC and SAC systems. Prevents edge cracking and delamination at repair joints.

Zero chloride ionsSafe around steel reinforcement and prestressed tendons. This magnesium phosphate binder provides both physical and chemical corrosion protection to embedded steel.

Proven durability in aggressive environmentsTested in 10% Na₂SO₄, 10% MgSO₄, and simulated seawater — strength maintained or improved after 210 days.

Application Scenarios

Structural concrete repair and reinforcement · Bridge deck and expansion joint repair · Tunnel and highway pavement repair · High-speed rail sleeper and trackbed repair · Industrial floor overlay (1–10 mm) · Equipment foundation emergency repair · Cold region and high-altitude infrastructure · Grouting and anchor bolt planting · Saline soil and marine environment repair

Why Eastchem

Eastchem is an ISO-certified manufacturer focused exclusively on magnesium phosphate cementitious materials — a specialization that shapes every product we make, from raw material selection to final formulation.

MPC cement

Our magnesium phosphate cement is currently supplied to infrastructure projects across the Middle East and global markets, covering applications in extreme heat, high humidity, and cold-region environments where conventional cement systems fall short.

Customization is a core capability, not an add-on. Every project has different conditions. We formulate to match:

  • Temperature range — from -20°C polar environments to +50°C desert sites

  • Humidity conditions — high-humidity coastal and underground scenarios

  • Setting time — standard 15–30 min, or compressed to as fast as 10 minutes for emergency repair windows

  • Strength grade — tuned to specific structural load requirements

  • Workability — flowability and open time adjusted for hand-pour, pump, or spray application

  • Substrate type — bond optimization for aged concrete, steel, stone, or composite surfaces

What this means for buyers: if the standard specification doesn't fit your project conditions, we work with you on the formulation before you commit to an order.

  • ISO certified production

  • Third-party test reports available

  • Free samples with no minimum order

  • Small-batch trial orders supported

  • Custom formulation service included

  • Application technical support provided

FAQ

Q1: How quickly can the surface be reopened after repair?Typically within 0.5–3 hours. At 25°C, MPC cement exceeds 20 MPa within 2 hours. For critical operations, we can supply a formulation with a 10-minute working window on request.

Q2: Can MPC cement be used at below-zero temperatures?Yes. As a chemically bonded phosphate ceramic system, MPC achieves full design strength at -20°C with no insulation curing — a key advantage over standard Portland cement and sulfoaluminate systems.

Q3: Does this phosphate bonded cement require a primer? No primer needed. MPC bonds directly to clean, pre-wetted surfaces. Tensile bond >2.5 MPa with C40 concrete at 3 days. Failure in testing occurs in the base concrete, not at the interface.

Q4: Is this magnesium phosphate binder safe around steel reinforcement?Yes. Zero chloride ions eliminates corrosion risk. MPC chemistry actively protects embedded steel — outperforming OPC and SAC systems in accelerated wet-dry cycle corrosion testing.

Q5: Can setting time be adjusted?Yes. From 10 minutes to 90 minutes depending on retarder dosage and ambient temperature. Share your site conditions and we recommend the right formulation.

Q6: What is the shelf life of this magnesium phosphate cement?12 months sealed, stored below 30°C in a dry environment. (Confirm with Eastchem for your specific batch.)

Q7: Can MPC cement be machine-mixed or pumped?Yes — hand mix, handheld mixer, or mechanical mixer. Direct pour for slurry and mortar. Machine mixing recommended for larger volumes to maintain consistency within the working window.

Q8: Can you customize this phosphate bonded cement for marine or high-humidity environments?Yes. MPC already resists sulfate and chloride corrosion in standard form. We offer formulation customization for coastal, marine, saline soil, and underground exposure conditions.

Q9: What is the minimum order quantity? No minimum. Free samples available before any purchase commitment.

Q10: Are third-party test reports available?Yes — available on request along with the full technical data sheet and application guide.
