Application of PVC paste resin in Singapore green building projects
Singapore sets a high bar for construction. The city's green building certification program is rigorous, the tropical climate is unforgiving, and clients in the commercial sector increasingly expect materials that perform on both environmental and aesthetic terms — not one or the other.
This project was exactly that kind of brief.
The client was developing a modern office complex and needed materials that could meet green building certification requirements: low VOC emissions, UV stability in high-humidity conditions, and enough design flexibility to support the building's contemporary interior and exterior finish. Standard materials either fell short on environmental compliance or couldn't hold up to Singapore's climate long-term.
We recommended our PVC paste resin — a paste grade PVC with low VOC characteristics and proven durability in tropical exposure conditions. As a PVC dispersion resin produced through emulsion polymerization, it processes cleanly into coatings and surface layers without the off-gassing issues that disqualify many conventional alternatives from green building programs.
The application covered both exterior wall cladding and interior flooring. For the exterior, UV resistance was the priority — the material needed to hold color and surface integrity through years of direct sun and high humidity without cracking or chalking. For the flooring, the focus was wear resistance and indoor air quality contribution. Both applications were met with the same base PVC plastisol resin, formulated differently for each end use.
Our team worked directly with the project's technical team on color matching and texture customization — the building's design specifications required specific finishes that off-the-shelf products couldn't deliver. Customization was handled before production, not as an afterthought, which kept the project timeline intact.
Delivery was coordinated with the construction schedule. Materials arrived on time, in specification, and without the documentation gaps that can stall green certification submissions.
The result: certification achieved, interior air quality targets met, and a building exterior that has shown no signs of UV degradation or surface aging since completion. The client has continued the relationship into subsequent projects.
