Relationship between viscosity and temperature of HPMC

2024-01-04 10:23

The viscosity of HPMC is inversely proportional to the temperature, that is, the viscosity increases with the decrease of temperature. The viscosity of a product usually refers to the test result of its 2% aqueous solution at 20 ℃.

Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose in practical application, in areas with large temperature difference in summer and winter, it should be noted that relatively low viscosity is recommended in winter, which is more conducive to construction. Otherwise, when the temperature is low, the viscosity of cellulose ether polymer will increase, and when scraping, the feel will be heavy.

Medium viscosity:  mainly used for putty

Reason: good water retention

High viscosity: Mainly used for polystyrene particle thermal insulation mortar powder and vitrified bead thermal insulation mortar

Reason: high viscosity, difficult mortar falling, sagging, improved construction

However, generally speaking, Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose the higher the viscosity is, the better the water retention property will be. Therefore, considering the cost, many dry powder mortar plants use medium viscosity cellulose instead of medium low viscosity cellulose to reduce the addition amount
